In celebration of the Royal National MOD coming back to Fort William for 2025, we are delighted to display a temporary exhibition to showcase the history of Lochaber MODs.
As well as lots of memorabilia, we have video clips, with thanks to the BBC, of Robert Robertson and Callum MacColl!
Come along and see for yourself how the MOD has evolved into the spectacle it is today!

This is an exclusive event, to be held in person at the museum, for our Friends and Members of the museum, plus our Volunteer team.
There will an exciting announcement and the opportunity to see first hand some recently acquired artefacts for the collection.

Online event ...
We are delighted to present an online Winter talk by guest speaker Peter Pininski.
Peter has lectured on the Stuarts for many institutions and is the author of various publications. His most recent being Bonnie Prince Charlie - His Life, Family, Legend, published by National Museums Scotland in 2022.
This talk concerns newly discovered letters relating to the exiled Stuarts, written by their most trusted confidant. They cast new light on the years following 1745 and the dynasty’s last members.

It is a pleasure to offer an online talk, by Professor Edward Corp.
The talk will consider the Jacobite Orders of the Garter and the Thistle, and discuss their significance in understanding the French and Italian portraits of the exiled Stuarts and their supporters.

The Lost Portrait of Bonnie Prince Charlie
Believed to be the famous lost Highlander Portrait of Bonnie Prince Charlie, this portrait was thought to have been painted in Scotland in 1745/6. It is on public display for the very first time since its identification by Dr Bendor Grosvenor.
